Chair of Architecture Heritage and Sustainability, ETH Zurich

Professor Mariam Issoufou's Chair of Architecture Heritage and Sustainability is a design and research chair at ETH Zurich that explores architecture heritage and sustainability through decolonial and intersectional lenses. It challenges the universalising assumptions embedded in architectural history, preservation, and sustainability, which are often rooted in Eurocentrism, coloniality, and extractive capitalism. The Chair emphasises the profound interconnections between the local and the global, which have been shaped by centuries of colonialism.

Soukaina Laabida is a Moroccan architect based in Bern. Alexander Cyrus Poulikakos is a Swiss-Greek-Iranian architect with his practice Studio Tekkeh based in Zurich. Together, they are part of the teaching team in the Design Studio of Mariam Issoufou's Chair of Architecture Heritage and Sustainability at ETH Zurich.
